Google New Browser Chrome Review

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Just downloaded Google Chrome and taken it for a spin.

chrome_screen.jpg
The Good
- Initially the pages loads very fast.
- It allows you to see which tab is taking up most resources (so you can close it)
- There is a special incognito tab where your history and cookies are deleted immediately after closing the tab.

The Bad
So the tab craze part of me took over and started googling and opening search results in more tabs..

This is the part that needs a little getting used to.

When switching from tab to tab, the previously loade tab display a second or two of blank (where contents already been loaded).
initially, I thought it was a blank tab and closed it..

- Looks like with all new development, theres a lack of addon/plugins at this moment,
hence I found myself switching between firefox and chrome.

The Ugly
This is the show stopper..
- I use cpanel online webmail (suspected this loads pretty slow..)
The problem is that chrome don’t seems to allow attachements to load when I compose an email.

I click browse, that was fine…

When I click add, all I got was an error page…

Overall
Well, It’s still a browser with pretty good potential.

considering the team that brought us gmail, I guess the above is just teething problem that should be over in a few months.
I can live with chrome and firefox for the time being.

but InternetExplorer? that’s so far behind…
the speed, the way it loads and everything.
